Patriot Bowl I, February 2nd, 2007

February 8, 2007, 01:03 PM

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (AP) - The point spread for Patriot Bowl I was released today at the Mirage in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Management opening up as a 3 ½ point favorite over the underdog Sales team***. Many expected the margin to be greater based on the long arm of rookie Management QB Brian “I’m the only Division I-A athlete in the house” Walters versus that of veteran Sales QB Mike McShane. Walters, in fact, has guaranteed victory. However, the recent comebacks of Rocky Balboa and Jeff Garcia have inspired some fans to believe that McShane just might be able to lead his team to victory, resulting in a narrower-than-expected opening line.

A key matchup to watch is what is being dubbed as the “Sibling Rivalry”, with the towering Kolar brothers matching up at WR against the undersized, but speedy McCahons at defensive back. Said a confident Jim McCahon, “I’ve said time and time again that size doesn’t matter…” Another advantage for the Management squad is that Offensive & Defensive Coordinator Geof Gardner will need little time in putting together a game plan. Said Gardner at today’s press conference, “I’ve been watching video of myself every night since I’ve graduated, so all of the plays are still fresh in my head.” Look for Sales to try to keep the game close by pounding its running attack with former Dickinson RB Ben Catanese following behind All-American Tackle Mike Margolis. However, according to one recent scout who wished to go unnamed: “I was watching Catanese play the outfield in a recent softball game against CB, and he clearly doesn’t have the speed he used to…” Game time is scheduled for 2:00 pm at the Far Post in Oaks, PA on February 2nd, 2007.
